Ecler Jaqua, MD, FAAFP, MBA, DipABLM, DipABOM, FACLM is an Associate Professor of Family and Geriatric Medicine and the Associate Program Director of the Loma Linda University Family Medicine Residency. She completed her family medicine residency at Loma Linda University and her geriatric medicine fellowship at the University of California Los Angeles. In addition to her board certification in Family Medicine, she is board certified in Geriatric Medicine, Lifestyle Medicine, and Obesity Medicine. Dr. Jaqua also completed a Master of Business Administration with a track in strategic leadership and received her Lifestyle Medicine Intensivist certification.

Gurpreet Padam, MD, FAAFP, DABLM

Gurpreet Padam, MD, FAAFP, DABLM is a Certified National DPP Lifestyle Coach is a board-certified Family Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine sub-specialist with a postdoctoral Palliative Medicine Fellowship training from the Interdisciplinary Stanford/VA Palo Alto program and a mini-fellowship in Ethno-Geriatrics from the Stanford Geriatric Education Center.

Dr. Padam’s 20 years of experience includes serving as a Medical Director for Pathways Home Health and Hospice. For over a decade at The Permanente Group/Kaiser Permanente Redwood City in several capacities, including Medical Director of Palliative Care Services, Associate Hospice Medical Director, and Adult Primary Care. Dr. Padam serves in a leadership capacity for several healthcare organizations at the local, county, and state-level advocating for healthcare legislation, bridging health care disparities, and improving access to care for all people.

Nicholas, Pennings, DO, MFOMA, FACOFP, FAAFP

Executive Director of Clinical Education for the Obesity Medicine Association and Chair & Associate Professor of Family Medicine at Campbell University School of Medicine

Nicholas Pennings, DO, FOMA, FACOFP, is Chair and Associate Professor of Family Medicine. He is board certified in Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine. He is recognized as a fellow of the Obesity Medicine Association and a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. Dr. Pennings moved from private practice into academic medicine joining the faculty of the Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2013. In addition to his role as Family Medicine Chair, he also serves as the director of the Campbell University Health Center. Dr. Pennings contributes to continuing medical education for clinicians in practice through his role as the Executive Director of Clinical Education for the Obesity Medicine Association.

Dr. Pennings’ research interests focus on the disease of obesity. In particular, the relationship between endogenous insulin production and weight gain as well as the impact of intensive lifestyle change on health improvement. Dr. Pennings also maintains a special interest in an obesity related condition called Lipedema.

He is a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his family medicine residency at Parkview Hospital in Philadelphia.
