Description: Obesity is associated with significant comorbid conditions including type 2 diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and cancer, as well as reduced quality of life and poorer mental health. While primary care providers often manage obesity-related comorbidities, obesity itself is not often directly addressed and remains undertreated. This educational program supports the consistent delivery of evidence-based obesity counseling and treatment in primary care settings. It focuses on improving the understanding and skills of primary care clinicians in working with their patients to manage their weight through evidence-based actions based in cultural humility.

WEIGHT reMDy
Physician Founder

Dr. Caissa Troutman is the Physician Founder of WEIGHT reMDy, a Direct Care Wellness medical practice in central Pennsylvania. She has 2 Main Targets - Weight Wellness and Midlife Perimenopause & Menopause Empowerment.

She helps her patients lose weight for the last time using the 4M Pillar Foundation Plan and helps women in Midlife achieve a higher quality of life through Hormone Therapy.

Her professional training as Quadruple Board-Certified physician - Family Medicine, Obesity Medicine, Culinary Medicine helps her breakdown healthy eating, the connection between our brain, our hormones and weight (neuro-hormonal connection) and the science of weight wellness to her patients. She creates a 4M Pillar Foundation plan based on their unique Brain + Biology. Meals or nutrition to learn how to eat sustainably, Movement to empower health, Mind- a multi-component behavior change strategy with Sleep , Stress and Mindset, as well as Medication which is a tool to treat the biology of weight.

Dr. Troutman is a Board- Certified Menopause Society Certified Practitioner. In addition, she trained with Heather Hirsch MD as a Women’s Hormone Therapy Specialist.

Her most important qualification is her personal story. She understands the journey as a person with obesity herself. She has successfully maintained a weight loss of 32% total body weight using the same 4 Pillars she teaches her patients. Also, she is a woman going through perimenopause herself and recognized the healthy inequity midlife women are dealing with when it comes to getting their struggles and questions answered during Midlife transition.
